I have been at university for just over two weeks now but it feels like so much longer! In the first few days, everything was overwhelming and moving away from home felt like the scariest thing in the world but now that I've settled in I can't remember why I was so worried. I have met some really lovely people since being here and they've made the whole experience that little bit easier. On the 27th September one of my lecturers arranged a London trip for us all. We went to Carnaby Street first to have a look around the shops and to grab some lunch. We then went to The Photographers Gallery on Ramillies Street where we looked around the gallery and another one of my lecturers spoke to us about the photographs we were looking at. After the Gallery we walked to ICA off site, The Old Selfridges Hotel which is an exhibition. It's about a journey through London's Sub Culture - 1980's to now. I took photographs throughout this trip and i'll be uploading the best ones in this blog. I'll be annotating some of them and the others will just be photographs I took to show you more of the trip. I found the trip an interesting experience and picked up lots of leaflets along the way to read up on at a later date.

This photograph was taken in Carnaby Street as you can probably tell from the photograph. I thought the black and white photography would capture the atmosphere I was going for better than colour photography would. I wanted to show how busy London is but also how beautiful it looks.
I love the detail in this photograph and that there's lots going on. Like the other photograph above, I was trying to capture London at it's best. The busy streets are all part of London life and so I thought this was the perfect opportunity for a photograph which captures that.
This photograph was taken at the Photographers Gallery. It was one of my favourite photographs there as there are lots of different photographs in a photo frame and I loved them all. I think they're all unusual and stood out from the rest as they were that little bit different.
This photograph was another one of my favourites as it is very eye catching. It's very simplistic but that's what makes it beautiful. It stands out on it's own making it that little bit more intriguing.
These photographs were from The Photographers Gallery and the Exhibition to show you more of what the trip was about.
